My Apology to Cart Ditchers (but not all of them!)

I'd like to believe that I am not usually one to beat a dead horse, but I deeply believe that it is my civic duty to maintain order at shopping centers worldwide. Well today I observed an exception to my previous post which cursed all of the careless shopping cart ditchers who breed chaos in our society.

Today I journeyed a bit of a distance to visit the World Market store. I really like going there specifically for the hand crafted cards that they sell. Knowing that I would not need a shopping cart, I did what every warm-blooded human would do and searched for a parking space nearest to the entrance. While on that mission, here is what I discovered in the first space ...

Here's what I was greeted with during my attempt at a second spot ...

By then I was chuckling to myself because I'd just written about this. With this in mind, I parked further away since most shoppers avoid these spots when there are closer spaces available.  As I walked to the store's entrance, I noticed an excessive number of orphan carts all over. This drew my attention to the cart corral that I had lauded in my previous post. You know what? A picture is worth a thousand words so I'll just let this picture speak for itself.

Do you see this? Right after I go out of my way to sing the praises of the convenience of cart corrals and rant about the overt indecency of those who refuse to use them or are too lazy to, do I see a closed off cart corral. Why on earth would a cart corral be closed? It wasn't full. It wasn’t inoperable. I can't wrap my head around why!

This single incident provides a valid exception to my previous rant. It's not that people didn't attempt to properly park their carts. They were unable to.

Cart corral, I've been trying to advocate for you for quite some time now. But, you make it difficult for me when you don't follow your own rules. I'll still speak up for you from time to time, but I can't continue to support you if you can't be consistent.  With that said, I'll eat crow this time, but don't get too used to it.

Have a great day and enjoy life with health, happiness, and honesty!
