Last week I had the pleasure of seeing the Broadway play After Midnight starring Dulé Hill. My Guy surprised me with tickets, but he was a little disappointed because he thought that Toni Braxton and Babyface would be the feature singers but they were scheduled for a later date. Since it was all a surprise to me it didn’t matter.
I was just excited for the date.

I quite enjoyed
the performances. I had not heard a lot about the musical prior to being
surprised with the tickets. I did not do a lot of research before going because
I did not want to go with any opinions other than my own. Other than the brief
description provided on the official website, I did not know much. The
performances featured music that was played or popular at the Cotton Club in
the 1920s-30s. Not knowing much about this time period or jazz music, the
costumes and performances held my attention. The movie-lover in me futilely
attempted to create a plot for the series of songs, but by the fifth song I
realized that there was no plot and this arrangement was solely to highlight
the music and fashions of this jazz era. There was an awesome band on the stage
that was a character on its own.
Would I recommend it: Yes
